The New Harvest
Come discover the up and coming design talents that will colour your days the years to come.Design Flanders is continuously looking for new design talent. These designers can be active in different applied fields such as accessories, glass, graphic design, industrial design, jewellery, ceramics, Furniture and interior objects, multimedia and textiles.
As we do every year, we looked for designers who will become important during the years to come. Design Flanders does this during spring and autumn, when we select innovative and creative designers. These selections are conducted, based on a dossier. An appointed jury, all experts, looks at the dossiers thoroughly. If the jury deems the products of a high quality, the designer is included in the database of Design Flanders.
13 designers from Flanders have been recognised by Design Flanders in 2008. In the annual New Harvest exhibition the Gallery becomes their platform during more than two months.
Industrial design: Frederik Aerts; Jewellery and Silversmithing: Lotte De Mey - Sophie Heymans - Elisabeth Leenknegt | *Glasjuweel* - Nathalie Perneel - Lieve Vandycke; Keramiek: Veerle Decapmaker; Furniture and interior objects: Damien Gernay | Dustdeluxe - Benoît Deneufbourg - Luc D'Hanis | Lachaert&D’Hanis - Alain Gilles - Charlotte Lancelot; Textile: Anita Kars.
There are several advantages that come with being recognized by Design Flanders: the designers can receive subsidies for exhibitions, participate in trade fairs and other promotional activities. They receive a mention in the Kwintessens magazine, are eligible to participate in exhibitions and trade fairs that are (co-)organised by Design Flanders and can contact Flanders Enterprise within the framework of the SME portfolio for an official recognition as a service provider of strategic advice and technological studies. The recognized designers also receive the weekly e-zine Ossenbloedrood and automatically become a member of the Belgian Design Forum.
