(Im)perfect by Design. 4th Design Triennial

Contemporary design sometimes shows signs of traditional or artistic traits.

With imperfection, coincidence, recycling, humour or artistic concepts, these designs do not appear to fit in with industrial design. However, companies are open to these influences and are therefore able to produce unusual and fascinating products.

(Im)perfect by Design exhibited products or objects from more than 30 Belgian designers which interpreted industrial logic in an unconventional way. Traditional methods and associations were combined with industrial production. Artistic ideas were placed into an industrial context in the most fascinating of ways.

(Im)perfect by Design also showed the creative process. Prototypes, rough drafts, photos and videos documented the research and development of the projects.

A Design Flanders and Museum of Art and History production.

The exhibition ran from 3 December 2004 up to and including 27 February 2005 in the Royal Museum for Art and History. www.imperfectbydesign.be
